About Air Tanzania

Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) is the national flag carrier of Tanzania with its hub in Dar es Salaam mat Julius Nyerere International Airport. In May 2021 following from years of decline and amounting debts the Government of Tanzania bailed out the ailing airline with an injection of $194 Million USD. Government has appointed Mr. Ladislaus Matindi as the airlines Chief Executive Officer who is overseeing the airlines restructuring program. Currently Air Tanzania has a fleet of four A220-300s, two B787-8s, one DHC-8-Q300, and five DHC-8-Q400s. By 2023 5 new aircraft will join the Air Tanzania fleet as the airline has strict instructions to operate commercially, market aggressively and excel at Customer Service. The Government of Tanzania is demanding to see the airline succeed and to ensure that there is no corruption in the company.
TWIGA Miles is the name of their frequent flyer program and on selected aircraft they have enabled wifi. Air Tanzania's Airbus A220-300 is configured for 120 economy class passengers and 12 business class passengers. Where as their Boeing 787-8 comprises of 22 business class and 240 economy class. On average the airline is operating 45 flights a day. By 2025 Air Tanzania expects to fly to 15 domestic destinations including Arusha, Bukoba, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Kigoma, Mbeya, Mpanda, Mwanza, Mtwara, Songea, Tabora, and Zanzibar.
